Believing him when things are rosy – very easy. When your bills are paid, your health is fine, and your relationships are thriving, it’s natural to feel like God is in control.

But what about when life falls apart? When you lose your job, your prayers seem unanswered, or you’re drowning in stress or debt or worse both —how do you trust God then?
If you’re struggling to hold on, you’re not alone. The Bible is full of people who faced real struggles yet chose to trust God anyway. And He is still that same God today.

Let’s talk about how to trust Him even when it’s hard. Cus I have been there, and it was difficult not to give up and wallow in self-pity.

1. Be Honest with God—He Can Handle It
When life feels unfair, it’s tempting to bottle up your emotions or act like everything is fine. But God isn’t looking for fake faith—He wants a real relationship with you. No one knows you like He does.
David, the man after God’s own heart, often cried out in frustration:
“How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?” — Psalm 13:1
Sound familiar? Maybe your prayers have sounded something like:
• “God, why is this happening?”
• “I don’t know how much more I can take.”
• “Do You even hear me?”
Guess what? That’s okay. God isn’t offended by your honesty. He invites you to pour out your heart (Psalm 62:8) because He already knows what you’re feeling.
Try This:
• Instead of pretending everything’s fine, talk to God about what’s really on your heart.
• Write down your honest prayers—get it all out.
• Read through the Psalms and see how David trusted God, even in his lowest moments.

2. Shift Your Focus: Is the Problem Bigger, or Is God?
Remember Peter walking on water? He was doing fine until he focused on the storm instead of Jesus (Matthew 14:29-30). The same happens to us—when we fixate on our problems, they feel overwhelming. But when we focus on God, we find peace.
It doesn’t mean we ignore reality. It just means we choose to believe that God is bigger than what we’re facing.
Try This:
• Find a Bible verse that speaks to your situation and repeat it daily. (Example: Isaiah 41:10—“Do not fear, for I am with you.”)
• Listen to worship music that reminds you of God’s faithfulness.
• Instead of replaying worst-case scenarios in your head, replace them with truth from God’s Word. His word is the absolute truth!
3. Surround Yourself with People Who Lift You Up
Hard times can make us want to withdraw. But isolation is exactly what the enemy wants—because when we’re alone, our fears feel louder.
That’s why we need people. Even Jesus surrounded Himself with close friends when He was struggling (Matthew 26:37-38).
Try This:
• Reach out to a trusted friend, pastor, or mentor.
• If you don’t have supportive people in your life, pray for God to bring them.
• Join a small group or online Christian community—you’re not meant to go through this alone.

4. Pray, but Also Take Action
Faith isn’t just about praying and waiting—it’s about moving forward (when He says so) even when you don’t see the whole picture.
If you’re struggling financially, trust God and start applying for jobs. If your health is suffering, believe for healing and take care of your body. If you feel distant from God, pray and start reading His Word daily.
James 2:17 reminds us that faith without action is dead.
Try This:
• Ask yourself, “What’s one small step of faith I can take today?” Then do it.
• Keep a journal of how God has provided for you in the past—it’ll encourage you to keep going.
• Instead of focusing on what you can’t control, ask God to show you what you can do.
5. Remember: This Is Not the End of Your Story
Joseph was betrayed by his own brothers, thrown into prison, and forgotten. But years later, he told them:
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.” — Genesis 50:20
What if the pain you’re experiencing now is actually leading to something greater? Hold on… am not saying it’s the same in every case, but some are growth processes necessary for the next level.
Right now, it might not make sense. But one day, you’ll look back and see how God was working all along.
Try This:
• Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?”, try asking, “God, what do You want to teach me through this?”
• Remind yourself: No trial lasts forever—this is just one chapter, not the whole story.
• Trust that even when you can’t see the way, God is still guiding you.
Conclusion
God Sees You, and He’s Not Done Yet
If you’re struggling to trust God right now, I get it. Life can be messy, painful, and confusing. But here’s the truth: God is still with you. He still has a plan. And He will bring you through this.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
No matter what you’re facing today, you are not alone. Keep praying. Keep trusting. And keep moving forward—one step at a time. Pray throughout the day, pray quietly pray loudly. Have conversations with Him. His assurance always comes in the midst of the storm.

Let’s Talk:
What’s one way you’ve seen God’s faithfulness in your life?
